Chris Stice has been with the Hamilton County Parks and Recreation Department, Hamilton County, Indiana since 1995. He started as an Intern in 1995 and currently is the Director of Hamilton County Parks and Recreation. During his tenure with the county, he has been committed to advancing the field of parks and recreation through his leadership. He has been Certified and the Indiana Co-Chair host of the National Playground Safety Institute annually from 1996 thru 2013. He held the position of Indianapolis Colts Youth Football Council, NFL Punt Pass, and Kick Chair for the Colts, Browns, Bengals, and Bears. He has served as the Chair of the Board of Regents of the Great Lakes Park Training Institute and was awarded the Richard Lawson Award for Outstanding Parks and Recreation Services at the Great Lakes Parks Training Institute. He has served as the Host Committee for the LPGA Solheim Cup Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the US Senior Open in Hamilton County, Indiana. Chris has been appointed to the NRPA, National Parks and Recreation Association Annual Conference Program Committee and served as the NRPA Program Committee Chair for the NRPA National Conference in Anaheim California. He has been elected President, of both the Board of Directors for IPRA, Indiana Parks and Recreation Association, and Indiana Parks and Recreation Foundation and served as IPRA President of the 2007 NRPA Congress in Indianapolis. Additionally, he has recently been reelected to serve another term on the Board of Directors for the National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials. He has been selected as an Air Force Honorary Aircrew Member of the 434th Air Refueling Wing and a graduate of the Indiana University Executive Development Program. Recently he received the inaugural Indiana Parks and Recreation Foundation’s Outstanding Advocate Award recipient.

He has overseen the development and management of Hamilton County parks including centers, sports complexes, gardens, archaeological sites, programs to international events, and networked approx. 250 miles of multi-use trails throughout Hamilton County. He has worked to acquire, preserve, and protect our communities’ natural resources through conservation and education.

Chris currently holds his Bachelor of Science Degree in Leisure Service Management from Oklahoma State University. He is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional.
